LA Kings sign RW Williams to 4-year extension @NHLdotcom

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Kings have signed right wing Justin Williams to a four-year contract extension worth $14.6 million.

The Kings announced Williams' new deal on Monday before facing the Detroit Red Wings. The extension runs through 2014-15.

Williams has 20 goals and 29 assists in 62 games this season as the Kings' second-leading scorer, often playing on their top line. He would have been an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Williams is the latest core player to agree to a long-term contract with Los Angeles. Leading scorer Anze Kopitar, goalie Jonathan Quick, defenseman Jack Johnson and captain Dustin Brown all have signed long-term deals with the Kings.

Los Angeles also acquired left wing Dustin Penner from Edmonton on Monday.
