Kurtis Mucha makes 53 saves in losing effort as Seattle beats Portland 3-1 @NHLdotcom

SEATTLE - Portland goaltender Kurtis Mucha made 53 saves in a losing effort as the Seattle Thunderbirds topped the Winter Hawks 3-1 in Western Hockey League action Saturday.

Bud Holloway had two goals and Ian McKenzie had a goal and an assist for Seattle (8-5-2-1).

Portland (3-16-0-0) took the lead on a goal by Chris Francis at 4:36 of the second period.

Holloway tied it for the Thunderbirds 13 seconds later and then gave Seattle the lead with his ninth goal of the season at 6:27 of the period.

Jacob DeSerres got the win in goal for Seattle, stopping 14 of 15 shots.
