MacDermid signs two-year contract with Kings

Defenseman to get $875,000 annually, could have been free agent after season

Kurtis MacDermid signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Los Angeles Kings on Friday. It has an average annual value of $875,000.

The 26-year-old defenseman, who could have become a restricted free agent after the season, played an NHL career-high 45 games before the season was paused March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus. He had three goals and five assists.

Signed as an undrafted free agent by Los Angeles on Sept. 12, 2012, MacDermid has 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 90 regular-season games.
