EDMONTON - Darcy Kuemper earned his second shutout of the season back-stopping the Red Deer Rebels to a 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in Western Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.
Simon Witt opened scoring for Red Deer (22-15-3), while Alex Petrovic and Jordie Deagle tallied on the power play. Kuemper stopped 30 shots for Red Deer.
Cam Lanigan turned aside 28 shots in net for Edmonton (10-22-10).
Witt had his goal 16:05 into the first for the Rebels with a shot through traffic from the point that eluded Oil Kings netminder Cam Lanigan.
Edmonton was held off the scoreboard for the fifth time this season in the second game of a home-and-home series that Red Deer swept with a 2-1 shootout win Saturday night. Edmonton was 0-for-5 on the man advantage, including 1:08 of time two men up.
Willie Coetzee and Landon Ferraro each earned assists on Petrovic's tally to extend point streaks. Coetzee now has seven points and Ferraro five in their last four games.
