Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang had neck surgery for a herniated disk this week.
Letang will not play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and needs 4-6 months to recover. The Penguins lead their best-of-7 Eastern Conference First Round series against the Columbus Blue Jackets after a 3-1 win in Game 1 on Wednesday.
Game 2 is Friday at PPG Paints Arena (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, SN, TVA Sports 2, ROOT, FS-O).

Letang, who has not played since Feb. 21, had 34 points (five goals, 29 assists) in 41 games this season. When the Penguins won the Stanley Cup last season, he had 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 23 playoff games.
