Kraft Hockeyville USA announces finalists; voting to begin April 13

Winning community will receive $150,000 in rink upgrades, host preseason game

PITTSBURGH & CHICAGO - Hockey communities across the nation have rallied together to share inspiring stories about their local ice rinks and teams, and now four of them are one step closer to the coveted title of "Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2018."

In partnership with the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL®), Kraft Heinz is searching for America's most spirited and passionate hockey community. With nominations narrowed to four finalists, top contenders are now encouraging their fans to show support and take part in public voting, which begins at 12:00 a.m. ET on April 13 and extends through April 14 at 11 a.m. ET. The winner will be announced live on NBCSN later that day.

Each of the four finalists will receive funds for rink upgrades from Kraft Heinz, with the grand prize winner awarded the opportunity to host an NHL® Pre-Season Game and receive $150,000 in rink upgrades. Finalists were selected based on story content and their communities' total digital Rally Points, which were awarded for activities such as uploading photos and videos, tweeting from the community page and interacting with the community content gallery on www.KraftHockeyville.com.

The four communities advancing to the public voting round are:

Brandon Valley - Brandon, S.D.
Clinton Arena - Clinton, N.Y.
George's Pond at Hirsch Coliseum - Shreveport, La.
Memorial Sports Center - Middlebury, Vt.

"Each year of the Kraft Hockeyville™ competition, we become more and more inspired by the incredible stories of community we receive," said Michelle St. Jacques, head of brand marketing and R&D at Kraft Heinz. "We're excited to see America rally around these four finalists.:

An updated voting schedule for 2018 is as follows:

Round 1 (March 31 - April 12) - Each local rink has two weeks to build excitement and encourage their fans and community to cast a vote during the live voting event which begins on April 13.

Round 2 (April 13 at 12:00 am ET - April 14 at 11:00 a.m. ET) - Public voting takes place with live online updates throughout the day. Fans can visit www.KraftHockeyville.com and follow links to vote through the website. The community with the most cumulative votes on the website and Twitter, subject to final Sponsor determination, will win the title of "Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2018."

Round 3 (April 14 during the 3:00 p.m. ET game) - The winner of "Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2018" will be announced during an intermission of NBCSN's Stanley Cup Playoffs coverage and will be awarded the grand prize opportunity to host an NHL® Pre-Season Game and $150,000 in rink upgrades from Kraft Heinz. The first prize (runner-up) rink will receive $30,000 toward rink upgrades, and two second place rinks will each receive $10,000.
