SUMMERSIDE, Prince Edward Island -- The New Jersey Devils' youth brigade put on a show during an 8-1 win against the Ottawa Senators at the 2017 Kraft Hockeyville preseason game at Credit Union Place on Monday.

Pavel Zacha, a first-round pick (No. 6) in the 2015 NHL Draft, had two goals in the first period. Nico Hischier, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, had a goal (his third in as many games) and an assist. John Quenneville, a first-round pick (No. 30) in the 2014 NHL Draft, had two power-play goals in 29 seconds during the second period. The Devils scored the game's first seven goals.

Kraft Hockeyville Canada, now in its 11th year, awards one winning community in Canada a once-in-a-lifetime experience for hockey fans. This year, O'Leary, Prince Edward Island, and the O'Leary Community Sports Centre were selected as the winner after an online vote. The rink will receive $150,000 in arena upgrades, and there will be festivities, player appearances and even a visit from the Stanley Cup prior to the Ottawa Senators hosting the New Jersey Devils in a nationally televised preseason game at Credit Union Place in Summerside, PEI, on Monday (6 p.m. ET, NHLN, SN1, NHL.TV). SUMMERSIDE, Prince Edward Island -- The trip became a success for Ottawa Senators forward Nate Thompson before he even took the ice. He already has a fish story to take home. 

Thompson was among a group of Senators that used an off day on their trip to 2017 Kraft Hockeyville Canada on Sunday to go fishing. 

The Senators play the New Jersey Devils at Credit Union Place on Monday (6 p.m. ET; SN1, NHLN, NHL.TV) to conclude three days of celebrations in and around the town of O'Leary, which won the right to host the event.

O'LEARY, Prince Edward Island -- Hockey is the lifeblood of this small island town. For 35 years, until his retirement last year, Allan McBain was the heart that made it flow.

Every hockey town needs a central figure who makes the sport work through sheer effort and love of the game. McBain filled that role at the O'Leary Community Sports Centre from 1981-2016.

O'Leary, a small community in the western reaches of Prince Edward Island, is ready for its star turn as the winner of 2017 Kraft Hockeyville Canada.

"We are going to put our little town on the map," said O'Leary resident Della Sweet, one of the five members of the committee that spearheaded the Hockeyville campaign. "I don't know if it has really sunk in yet, but this is going to go big-time for us. It's all very exciting. For a small town, this is the big show."

Will host Senators-Devils preseason game on Sept. 25

O'Leary, Prince Edward Island, was named winner of Kraft Hockeyville on Saturday and will host a preseason game between the Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils on Sept. 25.

O'Leary beat out almost 3,000 nominations to become the 11th winner of Kraft Hockeyville, which began in Canada in 2006. Communities submitted entries as to why their town was the most passionate and should host the annual NHL preseason game.

NEW YORK/TORONTO -- The annual Kraft Hockeyville community competition culminated last night when O'Leary, Prince Edward Island was officially named this year's winner of Kraft Hockeyville, announced by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman during Hockey Night in Canada. The New Jersey Devils will make their first-ever Kraft Hockeyville appearance when they face the Ottawa Senators on September 25, 2017 for an NHL® preseason game in O'Leary, P.E.I. Nearly 3,000 nominations from communities across Canada were submitted for the eleventh annual campaign.
