Kootenay Ice defenceman Chad Greenan named WHL player of the week

CALGARY - Kootenay Ice defenceman Chad Greenan has been named the Western Hockey League's player of the week.

The 20-year-old had up four assists to go with a plus-two rating in two playoff games over the last week, which Kootenay split.

The four-year WHL veteran had 42 points (9-33) in 69 games this season.

Kitchener Rangers goalie Steve Mason named OHL player of the week

TORONTO - The Ontario Hockey League has named Kitchener Rangers goalie Steve Mason player of the week.

Mason posted a 0.70 goals-against average and a .980 save percentage in two games.

The 19-year-old native of Oakville, Ont., is 4-0 with a 1.65 GAA and a .953 save percentage in four playoff games this year.

Bridgeport winger Jeff Tambellini named AHL player of the week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Bridgeport Sound Tigers winger Jeff Tambellini has earned American Hockey League player of the week honours.

Tambellini had 10 points (6-4) in four games as the Sound Tigers pursued a playoff berth in the East Division.

He has 72 points (36-36) in 53 games this season.

Meanwhile, Providence Bruins goalie Jordan Sigalet won the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award as the AHL player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, determination and dedication to hockey.

The 27-year-old New Westminster, B.C., native has gone 12-5-1 with a 2.52 goals-against average in 19 games with the Bruins this season.
