Knight and Varone score twice to lead London in 8-0 rout of the Greyhounds

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Jared Knight and Phil Varone both scored twice as the London Knights exploded for five goals in the second period en route to an 8-0 rout of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

Kale Kerbashian opened the scoring 1:23 into the period and the Knights (10-3-0-1) never looked back, firing 32 shots in the final 40 minutes. London has now won five straight and eight of its last nine, the only loss coming in a shootout against the Guelph Storm on October 11.

Scott Aarssen, Philip McRae and Daniel Erlich also scored for the Knights. Top prospect Nazem Kadri added two assists to bring his point total to 20 (8 goals, 12 assists) in 14 games so far this season.

Jason Guy earned the shutout, making 25 saves, while Bryce O'Hagan stopped 30 shots for the Greyhounds (7-6-1-0), who have one win in their last four games.
