Knee surgery planned for Columbus Blue Jackets forward Alexandre Picard @NHL

COLUMBUS, Ohio (CP) - Alexandre Picard, a first-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets three years ago, will have surgery after injuring his left knee.

The winger, who had one assist in 23 games with the Blue Jackets this season, tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments while playing in an American Hockey League game with the Syracuse Crunch last Friday.

Picard was drafted eighth overall by the Blue Jackets in 2004.
