Klingberg scores 2:11 into overtime as the IceCaps edge the Pirates

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Carl Klingberg scored the winner and Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves as the St. John's IceCaps edged the visiting Portland Pirates 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

Klingberg's winner ? his 11th goal of the season ? came 2:11 into the extra period while on the power play.

After a scoreless first period, Scott Kosmachuk made it 1-0 for the IceCaps (16-18-6) with his seventh goal of the season 9:50 into the second.

Brendan Shinniman responded with his eighth goal of the campaign for the Pirates (21-16-2) at 16:50 of the second.

Mike McKenna stopped 23-of-25 shots for Portland.

St. John's went 1 for 7 on the power play while the Pirates failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.
