CALGARY - Morgan Klimchuk scored the game-deciding goal in a shootout to lead the Regina Pats to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.
Morgan Klimchuk also had a goal and an assist during regulation for the Pats (6-2-0), who rallied back from a 3-1 lead with two late goals in the third period to force extra time. Dyson Stevenson chipped in with a goal and an assist for Regina, while Jordan Weal also scored.
Cody Sylvester, Brooks Macek and Trevor Cheek each had a goal and an assist in regulation for the Hitmen (1-3-1).
Sylvester and Macek scored their goals on the power play in the middle frame, during which the Hitmen outshot the Pats 20-1.
Cheek put the Hitmen up 3-1 in the third before Weal replied with a power-play goal for Regina. Stevenson then scored with 51 seconds left in the third before Klimchuk sealed the victory for the Pats with his shootout goal.
Regina goalie Matt Hewitt made 28 through regulation and overtime and two more in the shootout to record the win.
Playing in his first game as a member of the Hitmen since being acquired from the Tri-City Americans in the off-season, Calgary goalie Chris Driedger stopped 20-of-23 shots he faced through regulation and overtime.
