Kitchener Rangers' Steve Bienkowski named OHL executive of the year @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Kitchener Rangers chief operating officer and governor Steve Bienkowski is the Ontario Hockey League's executive of the year.

Bienkowski has worked as the Rangers' COO since 2002, and won an OHL championship as a player with the team in 1981.

Under Bienkowski, the team will expand the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex this year with a $10.6-million upgrade that will add 968 seats among other renovations.

"We are very fortunate to have Steve leading our business operations," said Craig Campbell, president of the Rangers' board of directors.

"Steve complements the vision of our entire Board in recognizing the importance of our role in supporting community. On behalf of our Board, I offer congratulations to Steve on this most deserving recognition."

It's the second time Bienkowski has won the award after Kitchener took the Memorial Cup in 2003.
