Kitchener Rangers forward Jeremy Morin named CHL player of the week

TORONTO - Forward Jeremy Morin of the Kitchener Rangers was named Canadian Hockey League player of the week Tuesday.

He recorded seven points (six goals, one assist) in four games last week.

The 19-year-old from Auburn, N.Y., was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL entry draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.

Defenceman Travis Hamonic of the Brandon Wheat Kings and forward Kelsey Tessier of the Moncton Wildcats were also considered.

Marco Cousineau of the Saint John Sea Dogs was named CHL goaltender of the week. He recorded two victories last week with a goals-against average of 1.50 and save percentage of .952.

Mavric Parks of the Barrie Colts and Drew Owsley of the Tri-City Americans were also considered.
