GAME: Los Angeles Kings (30-18-3) at San Jose Sharks (22-17-6).
TIME: Tuesday, 10:30 p.m. EST.
When the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks get together, there's a good chance the game will go down to the wire.
All four games have been decided by one goal this season between the clubs, who meet again at San Jose's HP Pavilion.
Patrick Marleau's power play goal with 8.9 seconds left in overtime gave the Sharks a 4-3 victory over the Kings on Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Joe Thornton scored with 29 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime.
The Sharks also won 5-4 at Los Angeles on Oct. 28 when Jonathan Cheechoo scored with just 3.7 seconds left in the third period.
"Our team worked hard, we are thoroughly disappointed we didn't get the two points that was there for us," Kings coach Andy Murray said. "That's two games here at home that we've lost the game in the last seconds to the Sharks."
Grant Stevenson, a rookie who made his NHL debut on Nov. 23, assisted on both the game-tying and winning goals Saturday and added a goal of his own in the first period.
"He's played really good since he's been up, he always trying to contribute every night," Marleau said.
San Jose has earned at least one point in eight of its last nine games, going 7-1-1 over that span.
The Kings wound up on the winning side of a thrilling game Monday night, defeating the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 3-2 in a shootout.
Joe Corvo had the deciding goal in the shootout's fifth round after Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf hit the left post past goaltender Mathieu Garon.
"We go by the rankings we have in practice, and (Corvo) certainly was one of our better ones," Murray said. "He scored on a penalty shot earlier this year."
Garon stopped 33 of 35 shots for Los Angeles to earn his first victory in four starts.
The Kings recorded their 30th victory of the season in their 51st game, tying the 1980-81 squad for the fewest number of games to reach 30 wins in the franchise's 38-year history.
