Season series: The Calgary Flames won three of five games against the Los Angeles Kings in 2013-14. Forward Sean Monahan had two goals for Calgary over the set and goalie Karri Ramo won each of his three starts. Los Angeles center Anze Kopitar had four points.
Flames team scope: Calgary's losing streak reached eight on Saturday, but the Flames did manage to get a point after seven straight regulation defeats. Forward Johnny Gaudreau's goal at 7:05 of the third period forced overtime, but the Canucks won it on defenseman Christopher Tanev's goal 18 seconds into the extra period. "We talked about our character since the start of the year," coach Bob Hartley said. "I felt it would have been easy to fold the tent tonight, second game in two nights, but credit to our guys, they battled back."
Kings team scope: Los Angeles will play the third of a four-game homestand. The Kings are 2-0-0 following a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday. Special teams has played a huge role; the Kings are 5-for-11 on the power play over the past two games. "I can't tell you," center Anze Kopitar said when asked about the recent outburst with the man advantage. "We’re moving the puck good and we're getting some good looks. A couple of bounces here and there is nice to get." Marian Gaborik has scored in four straight games and has goals on five of his past eight shots.
