Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov emerged as a potential star during this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Now he has the contract to match.
On Tuesday, the Kings agreed to terms with Voynov on a six-year contract extension worth a reported $25 million.
Voynov had six goals on the Kings' march to the Western Conference Final, including four game-winners. Both were franchise records for a defenseman in a single postseason. He tied for the team lead in scoring with 13 points.
In 48 games during the regular season, his second in the NHL, the 23-year-old had six goals and 25 points.
Voynov has career totals of 14 goals and 45 points in 102 regular-season games and seven goals and 16 points in 38 postseason contests. He was a member of the Kings' 2012 Stanley Cup championship team.
