King and Boychuk power Hurricanes over Wheat Kings 2-1 in playoff Game One @NHLdotcom

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Back-to-back power play goals from Dwight King and Zach Boychuk erased a third-period deficit and propelled the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings in the first game of their Eastern Conference quarter-final playoff series, Friday night in Lethbridge.

Trailing 1-0, the Hurricanes scored on successive power plays as first King beat Brandon's Joe Caligiuri from the slot and then Boychuk took a cross-crease Mitch Fadden feed and fired home the game-winner.

Juha Metsola, making his first playoff start, stopped 27 shots for the victory in net as the Hurricanes grabbed a 1-0 series lead. Lethbridge was 2-for-6 on the power play.

Brandon's lone goal came from Tyler Dittmer just 3:12 into the third period. The Wheat Kings were scoreless on five power-play attempts, while Caliguiri made 22 saves.

Game Two in the series goes Saturday night in Lethbridge.
