Lundqvist-BOS-save 1-120

Henrik Lundqvist and Mika Zibanejad continued their strong play when they helped the New York Rangers to their third consecutive victory Saturday,
3-2 against the Boston Bruins
at TD Garden.

Lundqvist, who made 27 saves, passed
Terry Sawchuk
for sixth on the NHL all-time wins list with 446. The 37-year-old goalie is eight wins from tying Curtis Joseph (454) for fifth place.
Zibanejad scored twice, including the game-winning goal at 9:05 of the third period. The 25-year-old center has scored the game-winning goal in all three games in New York's winning streak, joining Rod Gilbert (Dec. 11-17, 1966) as the only Rangers players to score the game-winner in three consecutive games.
The line of Chris Kreider, Zibanejad and Mats Zuccarello had four points (two goals, two assists) and has 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in the past three games and 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in the past five games, when the Rangers are 4-1-0.

Flames on fire

Mark Giordano had three points (one goal, two assists) and reached 50 points for the second time in his NHL career to help the Calgary Flames to
a 5-2 win
against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.
Giordano, who had an NHL career-high 56 points (21 goals, 35 assists) in 2015-16, has 52 points (11 goals, 41 assists), tied with Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks (nine goals, 43 assists) for most among NHL defensemen. The 35-year-old joined forwards Johnny Gaudreau (73 points; 29 goals, 44 assists), Sean Monahan (61 points; 27 goals, 34 assists), Matthew Tkachuk (57 points; 24 goals, 33 assists) and Elias Lindholm (57 points; 21 goals, 36 assists) as Flames players with 50 points.
It is the second time that Calgary, which has won seven of its past eight games (7-0-1), has had five players with at least 50 points through the first 50 games of a season (forwards Mike Bullard, Joe Nieuwendyk, Hakan Loob and Joe Mullen, and defensemen Gary Suter and Al MacInnis in 1987-88).
Gaudreau extended his point streak to 11 games. He is the third Flames player to have a point streak of at least 11 games since 1994-95, joining forwards Kristian Huselius (15 games in 2006-07) and Jarome Iginla (15 games in 2001-02 and 16 games in 1999-00).

Lightning hold 16-point lead entering break

Steven Stamkos had three points (two goals, one assist) for the Tampa Bay Lightning, who headed into their break with
a 6-3 win
against the San Jose Sharks at Amalie Arena and a 16-point lead atop the Eastern Conference.
Only three times since 1999-00 has a team won its conference by at least 16 points: the Detroit Red Wings in 2001-02 (17 points ahead of the Colorado Avalanche) and the Washington Capitals twice, in 2009-10 (18 points ahead of the New Jersey Devils) and again in 2015-16 (16 points ahead of the Pittsburgh Penguins).
Tampa Bay (37-10-2), which is seven points ahead of Calgary (32-13-5) for most in the NHL, leads the League with 196 goals and a plus-56 goal differential.
The Lightning, who lead the New York Islanders (29-15-4) by 14 points for first in the Eastern Conference after New York's 3-0 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, also got their NHL-high 20th win at home (20-5-0).

Avalanche of goals

The Avalanche tied their record with six second-period goals in
a 7-1 win
against the Los Angeles Kings at Pepsi Center.
Colorado, which scored three times at even strength, twice on the power play and once shorthanded in the second, scored six goals in a period for the third time since relocating to Denver from Quebec (Dec. 5, 1995, against the Sharks in the first period; March 3, 1999, against the Florida Panthers in the third period).
Forward Nathan MacKinnon had two assists to reach 70 points (23 goals, 47 assists) this season. He is the second Avalanche player to reach 70, joining forward Mikko Rantanen (73 points; 23 goals, 50 assists), who scored two goals in the win against the Kings. The last time two teammates reached the 70-point mark before the All-Star break was 1996-97, when Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr did it for the Penguins.
