The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Kevin Stenlund to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Stenlund, 22, who made his NHL debut on January 12 at Washington, registered four penalty minutes and three shots while averaging 10:57 of ice time in four games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has added nine goals and seven assists for 16 points with 10 penalty minutes and 79 shots in 33 games with the Monsters.
The Huddinge, Sweden native made his North American pro debut at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, recording 0-2-2 and four penalty minutes in seven contests with Cleveland. The 6-4, 210-pound center began the season with HV71 in the Swedish Hockey League, setting career highs in assists and points and finishing second on the club in game-winning goals (four) with 7-15-22, 28 penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 43 outings. Columbus' second, second round selection, 58th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft posted 22-23-45 and 66 penalty minutes in 151 career SHL games with HV71 from 2014-18.
