Kevin Bieksa out 'a while' for Ducks against Oilers

Defenseman unlikely to play in Game 3 of series Anaheim trails 2-0 @NHLdotcom

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Kevin Bieksa is unlikely to return from injury for Game 3 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Sunday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVA Sports).

"Day to day," Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said Saturday. "He's going to be out a while. I don't know if it's going to be later in this series; that's the option, possible."

Edmonton leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.

Bieksa injured his lower body in a 5-3, Game 1 loss Wednesday. Defenseman Cam Fowler played 27:57 in a 2-1, Game 2 loss Friday, his second game back from a knee injury, and defenseman Brandon Montour played a season-high 22:09.

"We've taxed some people," Carlyle said. "Cam is one of our go-to guys. I thought he performed very well. We're in a situation where we're short some people and other people have to play more. That's the perfect prime example right there."
