Ken Simpson makes 35 saves as Everett beats Victoria 3-2 to move into 7th place @NHLdotcom

EVERETT, Wash. - Kent Simpson carried the Everett Silvertips into seventh place in the WHL's Western Conference, making 35 saves as the Silvertips defeated the Victoria Royals 3-2 on Wednesday night.

Victoria thoroughly outplayed Everett, outshooting the Silvertips 37-13.

But Simpson kept the Silvertips in the game long enough for goals from Josh Winquist, Manraj Hayer and Ryan Harrison to win it.

The goals from Hayer and Harrison were Everett's only two shots on goal in the third period, snapping a 1-1 tie and giving the Silvertips a 3-1 lead.

With the victory Everett (20-37-9) leapfrogged Victoria into seventh place in the conference. It was also gave the Silvertips their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Robin Soudek scored both goals for Victoria (21-40-6). Jared Rathjen finished with 10 saves in net for the Royals.
