SAGINAW, Mich. - Dan Kelly scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a 4-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday.
The win gives Kitchener a commanding 3-1 lead in the Western Conference quarter-final. The Rangers can eliminate Saginaw in Game 5 Friday night in Kitchener.
In a series that has featured outstanding goaltending from Kitchener's Brandon Maxwell and Saginaw's Edward Pasquale, Game 4 was no different.
Maxwell turned aside 39 of 40 shots and was named first star of the game. Pasquale stopped 23 of 25 shots and was pulled for an extra attacker when Kitchener scored its final two goals.
Chris MacKinnon had a goal and an assist and Michael Catenacci and Jeremy Morin rounded out the scoring for the Rangers.
Vincent Trocheck had the lone goal for Saginaw with less then three minutes to play to slice Kitchener's lead in half at 2-1, but the Rangers stopped any hopes of a Spirit comeback with a pair of empty net goals from MacKinnon at 19:02 and Morin at 19:27.
Both teams went 0 for 2 with on the power play.
