Keith Kinkaid signs two-year contract to stay with Devils

Goaltender could have become unrestricted free agent July 1, gets $2.5 million @NHLdotcom

Goaltender Keith Kinkaid signed a two-year, $2.5 million contract (average annual value $1.25 million) Thursday to remain with the Devils.

Kinkaid, who will turn 28 on July 4, could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

He was 8-13-3 with a 2.64 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 26 games (23 starts) with the Devils this season. He has been the backup to Cory Schneider the past three seasons, going 23-27-8 with a 2.69 GAA and .912 save percentage in 68 games (56 starts).

The Devils signed Kinkaid as an undrafted free agent from Union College on April 18, 2011.
