Left winger James van Riemsdyk is the Herr's Foods "Fire on Ice" Flyer of the month for February, as selected by Flyers fans in an online poll on the team's official Twitter page. Among 2,423 votes, JVR captured 54.1 percent to take first place over Joel Farabee (35.5%) and Sean Couturier (10.3 percent).

van Riemsdyk, whom the National Hockey League selected as its East Division Pllayer of the Month in January, continued in February not only to rack up the points but also play a strong brand of all-around hockey.
"As far as where I'm at, at this stage of my career, it's certainly all about the team and winning a Stanley Cup, so that's what I'm focused on, day in and day out," van Riemsdyk said.
"I don't think I'm really doing anything too different in that sense. Just being more aware in the offensive zone and trying to get some more touches with the puck and make more plays that lead to dangerous chances. It's something I've worked on over the past three, four, five years."
JVR posted at least one point in seven of the eight games the Flyers played in November, and four were multi-point games. Overall, he racked up five goals, seven assists and 12 points. He closed out the month with seven points (3g, 4a) over the final four matches.

van Riemsdyk's regular linemate, Farabee also enjoyed a stellar month of February. The player, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Feb. 25, posted three goals, nine assists and 12 points overall in eight games. "Young Beezer" (as dubbed by teammate Kevin Hayes) notched a three-assist game in Washington on Feb. 7; his third game of three-plus points this season.
Couturier's candidacy for Herr's Foods "Fire on Ice" Flyer of the month was hurt by the fact that he started the month on the Injured Reserve list with a rib injury he sustained early in the second game of the regular season. However, ever since his return on Feb. 7, Couturier has displayed the two-way form that enabled him to win the Selke Trophy last season. From an offensive standpoint, Couturier recorded at least one point in every games he played (5g, 5a) and 10 points overall for the month.
