Justin Wallingford scores the overtime winner as Kingston edges Mississauga

KINGSTON, Ont. - Justin Wallingford scored the overtime winner as the Kingston Frontenacs edged the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 4-3 in OHL action Sunday afternoon.

Josh Brittain opened the scoring on a power play at 14:11 of the first period to put the Frontenacs up 1-0, heading into the intermission. The assists went to Matthew Kang and Andris Dzerins.

But Byron Elliot tied the game for the Majors (28-31-2-1) with his first goal of the season at 6:22 of the second period after receiving passes from Anthony Tapper and Brett Flemming.

Kaspars Daugavins gave the Majors a 2-1 lead shortly after, when he connected at 14:41, on the power play.

In the third period, Wallingford knotted the affair with a power-play goal coming at the 9:14 mark off passes from Dzerins and Kang.

Then, the Frontenacs (21-38-0-2) went ahead 3-2, when Bobby Mignardi wired a shot into the net at 14:16 on another man-advantage. The lone assist went to Taylor Doherty. At 18:34, Mike Pelech found the back of the net for Mississauga, with help from Tim Billingsley and Cameron Gaunce, to send the game into overtime.

Chris Carrozzi made 30 saves for Mississauga while John Murray blocked 37 shots for Kingston.
