Schultz placed on injured reserve by Penguins

Defenseman sustained lower-body injury Tuesday against Rangers @NHL

Defenseman Justin Schultz was placed on injured reserve by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Schultz sustained a lower-body injury against the New York Rangers on Tuesday. He left the game in the first period, returned in the second but left again after playing three shifts.

Schultz has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 23 games this season. He's averaging 18:40 of ice time.

The Penguins recalled defenseman Frank Corrado from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Corrado has no points and three shots on goal in three games with the Penguins this season, averaging 11:06 of ice time. He has five points (one goal, four assists) and is plus-4 in 12 AHL games.

Pittsburgh plays the New York Islanders at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; SN, TVA Sports, ATTSN-PT, MSG+, NHL.TV).
