Justin Feser's hat trick leads Americans to 11-4 rout of Giants

VANCOUVER - Justin Feser scored a hat trick as the Tri-City Americans roared into the Pacific Coliseum and hammered the Vancouver Giants 11-4 in Western Hockey League action Friday night.

Adam Hughesman and Jordan Messier both had two goals for Tri-City (33-8-0), while Brendan Shinnimin, Brian Williams, Jesse Mychan, and Nathan MacMaster also scored.

Cain Franson had a two-point night for the Giants (26-15-2) with a goal and an assist. Riley Kieser, Marek Tvrdon and Blake Orban also scored for Vancouver in defeat.

The Americans outshot the Giants 35-26 and went 2-for-7 on the power play. The Giants were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

The league-leading Americans rebounded after having their 12-game winning streak in Kamloops on Wednesday.

The Giants fell nine points behind the B.C. Division-leading Blazers with the loss.

After the first period the teams were locked in a scoreless tie, but Tri-City scored six unanswered goals in the second period to firmly take control of the game going.

Overall, the Americans scored eight straight goals form the start of the second period until the 3:55 mark of the third.

Giants starter Adam Morrison was pulled midway through the second after conceding a fifth goal, but backup Jackson Whistle didn't fare any better, conceding six goals.

Americans goaltender Eric Comrie improved to 14-3-0 with the win, stopping 22 of the 26 shots he faced.
