Justin Braun FA capsule

Justin Braun signed a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. It has an average annual value of $1.8 million.

The 33-year-old defenseman could have become an unrestricted free agent Oct. 9. He scored 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) in 62 games with the Flyers this season and had two assists in 16 postseason games.
"Justin Braun is an elite penalty killer, one of the main reasons we brought him back," Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said. "He's a strong defender, but he can take on an even bigger PK role if necessary."
Selected by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round (No. 201) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Braun has 173 points (27 goals, 146 assists) in 669 regular-season games with the Flyers and Sharks, and 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 100 NHL playoff games.
