Juha Metsola makes 34 saves, Hurricanes defeat Pats 4-1 @NHLdotcom

REGINA - Juha Metsola made 34 saves to help the Lethbridge Hurricanes beat the Regina Pats 4-1 in Western Hockey League action Sunday night.

The win moved Lethbridge (32-29-3-2) in sole possession of seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Regina (25-35-1-5) lost its fourth in a row and remained in 10th place in the East.

Lethbridge got on the board first five minutes in when Regina netminder Damien Ketlo coughed up the puck behind his net and Craig Orfino took advantage of the turnover.

The Hurricanes added to their lead 36 seconds into the second period with a power-play goal. Zach Boychuk, a first-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, scored his 22nd of the year on assists from Luca Sbisa and Kyle Beach. Sbisa has 13 points in 12 games after returning from a 39 game stint with the Philadelphia Flyers, and Beach is a first-round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Three minutes later, Lethbridge's Brent Henke converted a great feed from Brody Sutter to make it 3-0.

Moments later Regina appeared to have gotten on the board when Matt Strueby tipped in a Victor Bartley point shot but the goal was called off as Strueby's stick was above the cross bar on the play.

Regina ended Metsola's shutout bid late in the second when Matt Robertson banged in a rebound for his 23rd of the year.

Dwight King finished off Regina with an empty netter, his 24th goal of the year.

Ketlo made 29 saves in a losing effort.
