BARRIE, Ont. - Josh MacDonald's third-period goal held up as the winner as the Barrie Colts beat the Sudbury Wolves 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.
Ivan Telegin, Norm Ezekiel, Zach Hall and Aaron Ekblad also scored for Barrie (9-8-3), which snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory.
Michael Sgarbossa replied with a pair of goals for Sudbury (9-9-1), while Michael MacDonald added a single.
Mark Scheifele was held without a point for the first time this season. The Winnipeg Jets draft pick had been riding an eight-game point streak since being returned to the Colts.
With two of the weakest penalty-killing squads going head to head, it wasn't too surprising that the teams combined to convert on almost half of their man advantages.
Sudbury went 2-for-4 on the power play while Barrie finished the evening at 1-for-3.
Mathias Niederberger earned the win for the Colts, turning aside 30 shots, while Sudbury's Johan Mattsson made 22 saves in defeat.
