WINDSOR, Ont. - Josh Bailey scored the winner and added two assists as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Peterborough Petes 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night.
Bradley Snetsinger and Taylor Hall, with his 15th of the season, had Windsor's other goals while John Armstrong replied for Peterborough.
Petes netminder Trevor Cann faced 39 shots in taking the loss.
Peterborough rookie left-winger and Windsor native Zach Kassian, who was drafted fourth overall in last summer's OHL Priority Selection, made his presence known all night long with his physical play.
Windsor netminder Michal Neuvirth made 22 saves while picking up his third consecutive victory since being acquired from the Plymouth Whalers last week. Rookie defenceman Tom Kane, also picked up in the deal with Neuvirth, made his Spitfire debut as Mark Cundari was sitting out the first
of a two-game suspension.
The victory moved the Spitfires (16-5-1-3) into a first place tie atop the OHL's West Division standings along with the Soo Greyhounds and also extended Windsor's winning streak to five games. The Petes (9-13-0-1) lost for the fifth straight game.
