-- Washington goalie Jose Theodore
suffered an undisclosed injury in the first period of tonight's game against San Jose at Verizon Center and the Caps said he will not return.
Rookie Semyon Varlamov
started the second period in goal for the Caps, who were tied with the Sharks 1-1, despite getting five power-play opportunities in the first period. They outshot the Sharks only by 17-13 despite the 8:52 they got in power-play time.
The Caps quickly took a 3-1 lead early in the second period with back-to-back goals from Alex Ovechkin
just 28 seconds apart.
Theodore may have been injured when he dove out of his crease to corral a loose puck midway through the period. San Jose forward Ryane Clowe
also dove for the puck, and it remained loose until Theodore started to get up and finally saw it lying in front of him.
