BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Jordan Subban had three assists Wednesday night to help lift the Belleville Bulls over the Niagara IceDogs 6-2 in Ontario Hockey League play.
Chad Heffernan, Joseph Cramarossa, Scott Simmonds, Brady Austin, Michael Curtis and Austen Brassard all scored for the Bulls (15-8-3).
Brett Ritchie and Mitchell Theoret scored for Niagara (17-9-2).
Belleville got on the board early and often in the first. Heffernan's goal at the 4:05 mark of the opening period was his first-career OHL goal. Cramarossa kept things going with his fourth of the year followed by Simmonds tipping home a point shot to extend the lead to three.
Niagara started picking up momentum in the second as Ritchie scored just 19 seconds into the period. Theoret capitalized on a poor line change by Belleville to break in and beat Malcolm Subban to bring the IceDogs within one.
Malcolm Subban made 31 saves on the night for the Bulls, while Festarini finished the night with 31 stops for Niagara.
Austin restored the two-goal lead before the period was over with a point shot on the power play.
Belleville added to their lead in the third period when Curtis and Brassard closed out the scoring.
