WINDSOR, Ont. - Steven Shipley scored the lone shootout goal and Jordan Binnington made 46 saves as the Owen Sound Attack beat the Windsor Spitfires 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.
The Attack never trailed in the game, holding leads of 1-0 after the first period and 3-2 heading into into the third period.
Bobby Mignardi, Chris Brown, Jason Wilson and Marcus Carroll scored in regulation for Owen Sound (5-10-3), which won for the first time in three games against the Spitfires this season. Shipley also had two assists.
Greg Nemisz, Mark Cundari, Cam Fowler and Eric Wellwood replied for the Spitfires (12-3-2), who lost for a second time in a shootout at the WFCU Centre this season.
Michael Nishi made 27 saves in a losing effort for the Spitfires. The 15-year-old, who was Windsor's 10th round draft pick last summer, was appearing in his third game of the season while making his first start at the WFCU Centre.
The Toronto native was recalled by the Spitfires last month to serve as a backup to Troy Passinghman when overage netminder Josh Unice went down with a knee injury last month.
