Jones makes 24 saves as Calgary Hitmen drop Kelowna Rockets 4-1 @NHLdotcom

KELOWNA, B.C. - Martin Jones had a solid night in goal for Calgary, making 24 saves, as the Hitmen beat the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.

Zak Stebner, Cody Sylvester, Ian Schultz and Del Cowan scored for Calgary (42-17-2). The Hitmen, who led 2-1 after two periods, out-shot the Rockets 35-25.

Calgary entered the game having won nine of their past 10 games and 12 of their past 14, with both losses coming to Brandon, including 4-2 at home to the Wheat Kings last Sunday.

Tyson Barrie replied for Kelowna (29-27-5), while Mark Guggenberger made 31 saves.

Stebner opened Friday's scoring with a hard shot from the right blue-line boards early in the first period.

Less than a minute later Barrie levelled the score at 1-1 with a doorstep rebound.

Sylvester had the winner, deflecting a point shot midway through the second.

Schultz added a rebound late in the third and then Cowan found some insurance in the back of an empty net.
