Jonathan-Toews 3-22

CHICAGO -- Jonathan Toews will miss a few games with an upper-body injury the Chicago Blackhawks center sustained against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.

The Chicago captain, who left late in the third period of the 5-1 loss to the Avalanche, will be re-evaluated next week, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. The 29-year-old's last shift came with 1:56 remaining.
The Blackhawks, who were eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention Tuesday, host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday (8:30 p.m. ET; NBCSCH, SNP, NHL.TV). Chicago has eight games remaining.
Toews has 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 74 games. He has scored at least 20 goals in each of his 11 seasons with the Blackhawks.
With Toews out, Nick Schmaltz was at center on the top line with Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane.
"We're looking to have balance on our lines and the [competition] for quality ice time in all aspects is going to be there: special teams, important faceoffs and last-minute [scenarios]," Quenneville said. "All the big minutes will be shared."
