Drouin went to the city's Old Montreal section and grilled some unsuspecting Canadiens fans about the team's offseason while impersonating a reporter for their website.
The Quebec-born forward, who the Canadiens acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Mikhail Sergachev on June 15, sought to endear and introduce himself to Montreal faithful. Fans showed their confidence in Drouin to deliver in his first season with the Canadiens.
"I think we needed a fast forward," an unsuspecting fan told Drouin in the video. "I hope he's going to get at least 80 [points]."
"Fifty goals," another fan said when asked how many Drouin would score after telling him the Canadiens "need to make it at least to the third round."
Drouin did not go completely unnoticed by his interview subjects. At one point a fan turned the tables to ask him whether he'd prefer to play center or his customary position of wing.
"Oh you're asking the questions now?" Drouin said in French. "We'll switch."
Most fans ended up with autographed t-shirts. Drouin meanwhile left with the knowledge that fans are expecting a lot from him.
"I figure I have some work to do; expectations are a little high," Drouin said into the camera. "But that's the way it is in Montreal. I'm getting used to it."
