Gaudreau-Peters 5-3

Johnny Gaudreau said he is excited for a new beginning with the Calgary Flames under coach Bill Peters.
"It's a fresh start for our team, and obviously looking forward to getting back to Calgary soon and starting that journey with him and the boys back in Calgary," Gaudreau told TSN on Thursday.

The 24-year-old forward is Denmark with the United States at the 2018 IIHF World Championship. They begin Group B play against Canada, which is coached by Peters, on Friday.
Gaudreau said he spoke with Peters briefly over the phone after Peters was hired by the Flames on April 23 and said he plans on speaking with him during the tournament.
Peters left the Carolina Hurricanes and replaced Glen Gulutzan, who was fired April 17, after the Flames missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the seventh time in nine seasons. Calgary was 37-35-10, fifth in the Pacific Division, and missed the playoffs by 11 points after qualifying last season, Gulutzan's first as coach.
Calgary's home record of 17-20-4 was fourth-worst in the NHL, and its power play (16.0 percent) was tied for 28th. The Flames scored an NHL-low 61 third-period goals.
Gaudreau had 84 points (24 goals, 60 assists) this season, his NHL career high.
"I look forward to working with the players that are already here in place and the people in the pipelines that are coming," Peters said after he was hired. "I think it's a very good team and a team that's set up to win and to play the modern game. The majority of the core is still in their prime and still has room to grow, a higher ceiling to reach. It's just an exciting group."
