OSHAWA, Ont. - John Tavares's power-play goal 9:30 into the game stood as the winner as the Oshawa Generals defeated the Ottawa 67's 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the General Motors Centre.

Adam Zamec opened the scoring for Ottawa on a power play 3:47 into the game, but Brett Parnham tied it up for the Generals 20 seconds later.

Tavares then scored his 37th goal of the season from Dale Mitchell and James DeLory before the opening period was halfway done.

Goalies Michal Neuvirth for Oshawa and Adam Courchaine were perfect from that point on, Neuvirth making 27 saves for the win and Courchaine stopping 34 in defeat.

The Generals were 1-for-3 on the power play, while the 67's were 1-for-6.
