John Tavares has four-point night as Generals down Wolves 7-3 @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA, Ont. - John Tavares scored once and set up three others to lead the Oshawa Generals to a 7-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves to open the Ontario Hockey League regular season Friday at the General Motors Centre.

After surrendering a short-handed breakaway goal to Sudbury's Patrik Lusnak 5:32 into the game, the Generals scored the next five to take control of the game.

Shea Kewin scored twice, while rookie Justin Shugg, Dale Mitchell, Jeff Hayes and Brett Parnham added one each for the Generals.

Jared Staal and captain Kevin Baker scored the other Sudbury goals.

Jakub Kovar made 29 saves for Oshawa, while Michael Swick made 40 stops in defeat for the Wolves. Both were making their OHL debut.
