Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and probably won't travel on the Stars' two-game road trip, coach Lindy Ruff said Saturday.

Klingberg left the game Friday against the New Jersey Devils in the first period after he was hit by Devils forward Kyle Palmieri. Klingberg played two shifts, totaling 1:25 of ice time.

Klingberg, 23, is the third-leading scorer among NHL defensemen with 53 points (10 goals, 43 assists), trailing Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators (68) and Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks (56).

The Stars play at the Ottawa Senators on Sunday (5 p.m. ET; FS-SW+, RDS, TSN5, NHL.TV).
