BRAMPTON, Ont. - John Hughes scored twice and added two assists and Matt Duchene potted a pair of his own as the Brampton Battalion defeated the London Knights 8-5 Sunday afternoon for their sixth straight victory.
London (31-16-3-2) stormed out of the gates, jumping out to a 2-0 lead by the 6:54 mark of the first period, thanks to goals from Kale Kerbashian and Daniel Erlich. Brampton roared back with two of their own, with Jason Dale and Thomas Stajan finding the net to send the teams into their locker rooms tied at two after 20 minutes.
The Battalion (32-18-1-2) took over in the middle stanza, scoring five goals compared to one for the Knights and enjoyed a 7-3 lead after two periods, an offensive output that was enough to chase starting goaltender Jhase Sniderman, who surrendered seven goals on 24 shots.
Rounding out the scoring for the home side was Cody Hodgson, who also added three helpers and Bobby Sanguinetti. Philip McRae, Steven Tarasuk and Patrick Maroon were the other goal scorers for London.
