Jiggs McDonald

Los Angeles Kings fans are going to hear from an old friend on Thursday when they tune into Fox Sports West.

Jiggs McDonald, who was the team's play-by-play announcer for its first five seasons from 1967-72, will call his first Kings game in 45 years when Los Angeles hosts the Florida Panthers.
McDonald called the Kings' first preseason, regular season and playoff games and will be back for a game in their 50th season. After also working for the Atlanta Flames, New York Islanders, and Panthers, McDonald racked up more than 3,000 games called.
He has voiced at least one NHL game in each of the last 50 seasons, thanks to the Islanders, who brought him back into the booth in January for a game against the Panthers.
"It's something that I never thought would happen," McDonald
told the Islanders website in January
. "I was flattered, kind of stunned. It means a lot."
