Jets place forward Scheifele on injured reserve

by Staff

The Winnipeg Jets placed center Mark Scheifele on the injured reserve Sunday, the team announced.

Scheifele sustained an upper-body injury at practice Saturday.

"He sustained a concussion [Saturday]," coach Paul Maurice said in comments tweeted by the Jets. "This is not one he's coming back from until he's 100 percent."

Scheifele accidentally collided with teammate Andrew Ladd during a drill at MTS Centre. The 22-year-old was bloody, appeared woozy and was escorted off the ice by his teammates, according to The Winnipeg Sun.

Scheifele has 12 goals and 10 assists in 34 games this season, including four goals and five assists in his past nine.

In a corresponding move, Winnipeg recalled forward Adam Lowry from Manitoba of the American Hockey League. Lowry has one goal and seven assists in 31 games with the Jets this season.
