Jessiman continues scoring streak with winning goal as Monsters beat Marlies @NHLdotcom

CLEVELAND - Hugh Jessiman scored the winner and Trevor Cann made 25 saves as the Lake Erie Monsters beat the division rival Toronto Marlies 2-1 in American Hockey League action Thursday.

Jessiman has five goals in his last three games.

Justin Mercier also scored for Lake Erie, who won despite being outshot 26-11.

Ryan Hamilton replied for the Marlies. He has a goal in each of his last three games.

Ben Scrivens stopped nine shots for Toronto.

The Marlies (16-12-4) have lost two straight games and failed to build on their one-point lead over Rochester atop the North Division standings.

Lake Erie (15-15-2) has won two straight and pulled to within four points of Toronto.
