Zatkoff: Penguins have even more motivation

Pittsburgh goalie shares thoughts on Game 6 against Sharks in blog for NHL.com

by Jeff Zatkoff Special to NHL.com / NHL.com

Pittsburgh Penguins third-string goalie Jeff Zatkoff will be writing a blog throughout the Stanley Cup Final. Zatkoff will check in after games and on some of the days in between games.

Here is Zatkoff's entry in advance of Game 6 on Sunday (8 p.m. ET: NBC, CBC, TVA Sports).

SAN JOSE -- The excitement in Pittsburgh for Game 5 was incredible. I'm pretty sure half of the city was playing hooky fromwork in preparation for the game.

As I left the morning skate there were already people outside the arena, claiming their spots to watch the game on the big screen ... which was not starting for another eight hours.

It has been said many times over, but I cannot say enough about the support this town has provided to our team throughout the playoffs. Come to a game in Pittsburgh and you will see what I mean.

By this point every media outlet, fan, player and coach has analyzed and scrutinized every play of Game 5. In my opinion all of that is totally unnecessary. This is the Stanley Cup Final. We are competing for hockey's ultimate prize and we knew it was going to be a hard, back-and-forth series between two great teams. So rather than sit here and bore you with the details of the game, I'm going to move on to the anticipation of Game 6.

Game 6 is sure to be another battle. The keys to success remain unchanged and are understood by everyone in the locker room.

The last game left us even more motivated to get out there and finish up the series. We have that chance on Sunday and that is not lost on anyone.

Before I leave you today, there is something I quickly need to address. It appears as if no one in the NHL is taking me seriously as a blogger. My press credentials have yet to show up to get me into San Jose press box. Once again I am relegated to the basement to watch the game on a 10-second delay. Not too happy about that.

Don't worry though, I'm a true professional and promise not to let that get in the way of my work.
