Jeff Carter reaches 600-point milestone in Kings win

CARTER ECLIPSES MILESTONE AS KINGS HOLD OFF DUCKS

Jeff Carter (2-1-3) scored his 599th, 600th and 601st NHL points, including an NHL-leading fifth game-winning goal of the season, and the Los Angeles Kings held off a surging Anaheim Ducks team in the third period for the 3-2 win.

* Kings goaltender Peter Budaj improved his record to 10-6-1 this season, tied for third in the League in wins, after taking over the starting role from injured goaltenders Jonathan Quick and Jeff Zatkoff. The Kings, who have won three games in a row, are tied with the Ducks and Edmonton Oilers atop the Pacific Division with 21 points each.

COLUMBUS, CAROLINA WIN FOURTH IN A ROW

* Forward Alexander Wennberg scored the game-winning goal with 54 seconds left in the third period to help the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-2 win against the Washington Capitals. The Blue Jackets won their fourth straight game, improving to 8-1-1 in their past 10. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky (19 saves) improved to 7-1-0 in his past nine appearances and 10-4-1 this season (2.19 GAA, .931 SV%, 3 SO).

* Goalie Cam Ward made 21 saves and Victor Rask (1-0-1) scored the game-winning goal for the second straight game to give the Carolina Hurricanes their fourth straight win and fourth consecutive win at home. Carolina went three-for-three on the penalty kill and has killed off 19 straight penalties to lead the League (91.3%).

Calgary Flames forward Garnet Hathaway (Naples, Fla.) scored his first NHL goal (18 GP) against the Detroit Red Wings, becoming the sixth Florida-born player to score an NHL goal joining Jakob Chychrun (Boca Raton, Fla.), Dan Hinote (Leesburg, Fla.), Blake Geoffrion (Plantation, Fla.), Jayson Megna (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Shayne Gostisbehere (Pembroke Pines, Fla.).

Forward Mark Scheifele 1-0-1 scored the lone goal for the Winnipeg Jets and leads the League in scoring with 23 points (11-12-23, in 21 games) . . . Aleksander Barkov scored a one-handed goal in the shootout to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 win against the New York Rangers. . . Defenseman Keith Yandle (1-0-1) scored his first goal as a Panther against his former Rangers teammates . . . Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist appeared in his 700th NHL game, all with Rangers . . . Defenseman Dougie Hamilton (0-3-3) had three assists for his second three-point game of the season (2-1-3 Oct. 28 vs. OTT) in the Flames' 3-2 win against the Red Wings . . . The Rangers honored broadcaster Sam Rosen, recognizing his Foster Hewitt Memorial Award, prior to the game Sunday.
