VANCOUVER - Jayden Hart scored in regulation and added the shootout winner, as the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the Vancouver Giants 4-3 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.
Hart skated in slow Adam Morrison and then beat the Giants starter through his pads for the winner in the sixth round.
The Tigers forward gave Medicine Hat a 2-1 lead early in the second when he re-directed a Riley Sheen feed past Morrison for his first career WHL goal.
Medicine Hat (4-3-0) allowed four separate one-goal leads to slip away before winning in the extra session.
Emerson Etem opened the scoring with his 11th of the season, and third in two games.
Reid Petryk and Boston Leier also scored for the Tigers who improved to 13-12-0 all time against the Giants.
Vancouver forward Brendan Gallagher had an excellent chance to open the scoring after he was awarded a penalty shot early in the first period. The Montreal Canadiens draft pick beat Tigers starter Kenny Cameron high glove side, but rang the shot off the post.
With Morrison on the bench for an extra attacker, Jordan Martinook tied the game 4-4 at 19:58 of the third to force overtime.
The Giants (3-3-1) also had goals from Gallagher, who had a pair, and David Musil, who struck for his first of the season.
Medicine Hat had a 53-second 5-on-3 man advantage early in the third, but could not convert and finished the night 0-for-5 on the power play.
Vancouver went 2-for-7 with the man advantage.
Cameron turned aside 25 shots picking up his first WHL victory while Morrison made 23 saves in his first loss as a member of the Giants.
