EDMONTON - Tristan Jarry stopped 20 shots en route to his second shutout of the season as the Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the visiting Kootenay Ice 2-0 in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.
T.J. Foster and Henrik Samuelsson each scored their 13th goals of the year for the Oil Kings (17-5-4) while Michael St. Croix picked up an assist on both of his club's goals.
Mackenzie Skapski stopped 40-of-42 shots in a losing cause for the Ice (8-16-1).
Foster opened up the scoring 6:14 into the contest after being left alone in front to put back a pass from St. Croix under the glove of Skapski.
Kootenay nearly evened the game up on the power play at 9:03 of the second period with Zach McPhee deflecting a Joey Leach point shot just off the inside edge of the post behind Jarry.
Samuelsson doubled Edmonton's lead with 26 seconds remaining in the second, after being sprung in alone by St. Croix and tucking a bandhand deke five-hole through Skapski.
Edmonton's number-one ranked power play didn't get any opportunites with the man advantage while Kootenay went 0-for-3.
